I think It was about a year ago when Jom Fishing, founded by Syh Aik Chang started a collaboration with Fishyology in filling up all the charters in different location across Malaysia. At that point of time, they were still developing the Jom Fishing, Fish Talk App which I think will the first most complete Fishing App ever created. Finally this year, they have completed the App and after several update I think its about time to give them a pat in the back for such a functional and beautiful app.

A quick run through posting your trophy catch. Basically you need a fish to begin with haha, then you can fill in all the detail of your catch. Plus there are some mandatory field that requires your info before you can publish your post. Then once everything is ready you can share among all Fish Talk App user! Easy Peasy 🙂

We are bridging these gap, by connecting fishermen and boatman in the digital space. We give captains the opportunity to create a free and professional listing on our site to showcase and advertise to the whole world in the digital space. We enable anglers to find, compare and book your trip. We offer website for shop and trip, mobile app for the talk and market . in our Fishtalk – the knowledge sharing piece were crowdsource from those who has made it. Validation prove method to land the fish. FIshShop – this is where angler can source from their tackle from the website with the transparent pricing and international shipment as well as fishmarket where is the market place for your fresh catch and pre-loved item

Tell us a brief history about the creation of this wonderful idea?

Fishing is one of the world oldest hobby, and this has been practice since 16 century. However, this industry has been very conventional for the past decades. fishing information was scattered around the internet, and that said, fishing is very digitally under-served in this modern world. The story begin one day when we were out for fishing activity in Penang, and that made myself very uncomfortable of not able to comprehend difference technique of fishing ( I’m a newbie in fishing hobby, while business partners are all avid anglers) , and therefore, the idea of consolidation of all the information from friend and family and over the internet into single platform, that’s how JomFishing is born. JomFishing is a tech-startup that provides the platform that would be able to complement the fishing experience via multiple module within JomFishing in mobile app and website. JomFishing introduce FishShop – E-commerce platform, FishTrip – Aggregator fishing trip where you will be able to book and plan your trip. FIshTalk – mobile app, where fishing community will be able to share their experience, a crowd-source info platform that fishing community can learn form each other, and last but not the least, FIshmarket – a marketplace for the fresh catch and pre-loved items

What is the purpose of that App?

In our Fishtalk – Mobile app. Your fishing gets personal. You can track your catches, capture the moment and get your fishing insights in JomFishing mobile app. This mobile app served as the knowledge center which was crowd-source by the community. The information was validated from whoever has made it. For example: in order to get Giant Travelly, you need to you ABC rod, CDE reel, FGH lines and all. The database was provided and validated by those who manage to get the fish, as the evidence form the picture. Our mobile app available in IOS and Android platform. We exchange ideas, sharing with the like-minded people, and my frinds, fishing is not restricted to male community

Do you think this could be the perfect fishing app?

At this moment, we are not able to identify there is another one who did the similar mobile at our space, and we would like to promote this app to the sportfishing community. I would like to think this is one of the useful tool for angling community, where we can track, learnt, and exchange idea within the community

How many downloads as of now and what is your target download in 2016?

As of end of August, we are tracking at 500 downloads, and we are looking at 1000 by end of the 2016

How does JomFishing boost the presence of our Sportfishing Industry?

We are a tech-startup which would like to bridge the gap in the industry, and we will begin our digital marketing in the month of September to boost the presence in the sport industry. We are looking to participate in more fishing competition across the country and working closely with the fishing club to boost the presence.

Finally, what can we expect from the final version of JomFishing App?
Beside the crowd-source knowledge within the app, JomFishing also introduce FIshmarket, FIshShop, FIshtrip within the app. You can now buy your tackle equipment from the app, Book your trip from the app ad even to look for fresh catch and pre-loved items in the fishmarket. We will introduce the Jomfishing league within the app itself, and the top contributor will be awarded with surprise award to entice customers
