SW Jurassic Fishing Pond, 30 MAR 2015
Catch and Release saltwater fishing pond has now become a trend in central Malaysia, and the latest addition to offer SW CnR pond is SW Jurassic Fishing Pond. Located in Sg Pelek, Sepang. Jurassic fishing pond retain its brand by intoducing SW Fishing Pond that are stocked with a variety of SW species. GT’s, Cobia, Red Snapper, Golden Snapper, Barramundi and a range of Grouper species.
I must say, my first visit at the place I was impressed with the facilities provided, proper setup, fishing platform, and trained guides will make it a plesant visit for hard core angler to newbie beginners. Today’s trip is a special one, one of Fishyology’s blog readers were in Malaysia and they would like to go fishing with me and accepted the offer a suggested SW Jurassic Fishing Pond.
A group of 4 all the way from Singapore, Daniel, Francis, Kaara and Kathy were always visiting Malaysia for a fishing trip, there were here last December but I was too tightup with my busy schedule to meet them. We meet up at the fishing pond at 9.30am and were greeted by Mr. jeff the owner of the establishment.

Unloading all our tackles and lures 🙂

Lure inspection and setups, all anglers will land  a fish, a good policy for a fishing pond operator
We prepare all our tackles and tie all our shock-leaders. The guides at this place were kind enough to prepare all our tackles and gears. They even suggest which lure that might work and put aside lures that might not be effective. I guess they stepped up a little bit to offer better service compared to other fishing pond. Its good thing, we always appreciate good service and put you ahead in competition. They have a similar setup last time, good guide and would teach you the right technique in catching a Toman or Haruan. Each guide will land, release the hook, took photos and release the fish. All the angler would need to do is just focused in fishing for the whole session.

Kathy already in action after first cast!

Yozuri 3D Popper, small in size but very effective 🙂
We started off with bang, Kathy landed two GT’s back to back on Yozuri 3D popper. This popper are probably one of the best small poppers available in the market. Its effectiveness in luring predator fish was just outstanding. I can see a school of juvenile GT’s swimming around the pond and all you need to do is run a popper above them and they would go berserk on the lure. Classic!!
Daniel started off with a nice Golden Snapper caught on soft-plastic minnow. Kaara and Francis off to a slow start, but once they get the hang of it they nailed a beautiful grouper, GT’s on poppers and a Barramundi. The fish seems a bit frenzy in the morning even after the place runs the Megabass Asia Cup 2015-Malaysia. I thought the bite rate would go down but we are still hauling good fish’s this morning.

A nice Juvenile GT, even though it is small in size but still it fights hard!

Back to back action from Kathy! Another GT hits her surface popper!

Yozuri!! Another GT fallen for it 🙂

Kathy on fire! Again a nice Juvenile GT!
Its good to see everyone is having fun, when i check my score bag.. zero lol. I’ve done some SW casting in Jugra, Tiger 5 and Thye. They way the lure needs to be presented is different then what I have experienced. I notice Kaara was retrieving in super slow mode and hit another fish. I slowed down my winding and it worked, score a nice golden snapper. Repeat the same step, cast lure, and super slow
retrieved it and bang another goldie hahaha.
Fishing under the hot sun can drain your energy quickly, my fishing session was halted several times due to wind knot that happens twice. The place was quite windy and wind knot happens every time when we cast our lure against the wind. You can avoid this by not going against the wind but I’m not sure if the wind causes any problem to the other guys.

My faithful Daiko Spear ULS paired with Daiwa Luvias 2506H, up to the task landing a nice Golden Snapper.

Thank You! All credit goes to SW Jurassic Fishing Pond for the lovely picture 🙂

One thing I like about Grouper is the beautiful coloration and the taste! Haha! Good one Kaara!

A well setup place, Kaara and Francis at the background continuing their fishing session
We ended our session 4 hours later and it was a great outing after all. During the final hour, I lost an unknown predator as I am not able to set the hook properly. It could be more than 4kg and I think its a grouper. Lost another one just before the final moment and this time a Barramundi.
Soft plastic minnows seems to work pretty well in this place and even poppers. I would suggest start your morning session with poppers and soft plastic minnows afterwards. Thank you for inviting me to fishing session with you guys. I got a special gift from Daniel and hopefully would be able to try it soon. Hopefully this will be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

Daniel Ng, Thank you and hopefully we will meet again 🙂
