Fish Valley, Semenyih – 25 Dec 2014
Fishyology.com wishes Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all fellow readers and we would like to thank you for your endless support for this fishing site. What better way to lay back during this festive season as me and Mahfuz head back to Fish Valley hoping to continue our glorious run last weekend at the Natural Exotic Fish Fishing Pond.
This will be a full day session from morning till evening and we will be testing 2 variation (Carp and Mekong) of Matsumoto ground-bait. Mahfuz prepared all the bait and we begin our morning session at 8.00 am in the morning. Over the past few days rain has been pouring non stop over Kajang, and it is quite normal during Monsoon season. Luckily it was cool and cloudy in Fish Valley, we started off with our first batch of bait, Pallets and Fermented Soy. It only took a few minutes when Mahfuz scored his first fish of the day, a nice common carp or Leekoh.

We’re off to a good start in the morning and we landed a few species. We switched to the Carp Variation of Matsumoto Bait. As expected species like carp and barb loves the smell and combination of ground bait. We are nailing Java Barb and Tilapia, oneย after another.
I remembered during The Bottom Line 2014 event in early December, I saw a man fished for Big Head Carp using float. So I decided to switch my bottom feeding rig to floating rig. Same application, we simply add floats to suspend the bait in the water. I find it interesting fishing with floats, it gives a clear indicator of the activity that surrounds our bait.

TBL 2014 Champion, off to a flying start with a nice common carp

Red Tilapia, my first fish of the day ๐

Black Tilapia, a common size in FV pond

Java Barb, feisty little fish and taste good too.. haha
I bet most of us used floats as part of our fishing technique when were kids and to watch my float dancing and being pulled in the water was pure fun haha. Nothing too technical fishing, just bait and wait for the fish to take it.
One of the fish in morning session felt like pulling a dirt bag from the pond. Heavy but was not fighting right until at the edge of the pond. It was a Big Head Carp!! The last time I haul this huge fish was back in 2008, and to land one today was simply awesome!ย Thank you for showcasing your technique dear unknown angler haha. ๐

It only takes one single hook to land this bad boy hehe.

Tongsan Sisik Halus, or Big Head Carp. I think it is slightly different than the one invading the America’s. Slimy fellow but they are heavy weights of Fish Valley!
The ability of Matsumoto Ground-bait really impress us because their product range is prepacked and all we need to do is just mix them up. Ground baiting can be quite intimidating for some people as they usually get it wrong for the first time. Well, I have experience using other brands but to me, Matsumoto range is worth buying and its proven both in NEFFP and FV.

Mahfuz with his Golden Common Carp or Gold Leekoh

Fearsome foe, a good size Pacu fallen for the Matsumoto bait!

One of many Tilapia landed ๐

We have landed probably more than 20 Barb the whole day ๐

Mahfuz nailing a variety of species, this time and African Catfish!

Small fish, big heart ๐
Red and Black Tilapia, Common and Gold Carp, Big Head Carp, African Catfish, Pacu, Native Catfish (Baung) and finally Java Barb are the range of species that are caught using Matsumoto Ground Bait. 9 variety of species proves that the bait is proven and tested in Fish Valley.
Too bad we did not manage to capture the attention of any Mekong Catfish on that day but still a good fishing day. I guess this is the final report for 2014 it has been a great year and surely we will be back in 2015 with more fishing report :).

My oh my, even native catfish, Baung just could not resist the taste of Matsumoto Ground Bait hahaha.. ๐
Hello,
I really enjoy your website its very informative. Can you share what kind of rigs you use for ground bait fishing? Types of hooks use?Is it possible to share how do you mix the the ground baits?
Thanks!
Hi Chris,
Please check tomorrow on my latest post for the baitmix and rigs. I used Matsumoto Bait mix that are specifically for carp and mix it together with fish pallet that are sold in Fish Valley.
Thanks,
