TANJUNG TUAN, PORT DICKSON – 8 JUL 2014
First of all I would like to wish Ramadhan al Mubarak to all Muslim readers! Happy fasting!
This is the second time in 2014 we embark on Jigging trip in Tanjung Tuan, Port Dickson. I have booked the trip 2 month before and since getting Apek Kecik as our skipper is so hard now days, me and Andrew Griffin (AG) take a day off to enjoy our fishing trip during Ramadhan. Ramadhan 2013 brought AG to Port Dickson on his first jigging trip on the west coast. It is almost 1 year I’ve been fishing with AG and hopefully this friendship would continue on for years to come. As usual I meet up with AG at Seremban R&R at 7.30 and arrived at Teluk Kemang LKIM jetty around 8.30AM. The weather forecast was expected to be unfavorable but it has been raining over night thus in morning the weather condition is ok although a bit windy.

Hazy and cloudy..

Queenfish in Port Dickson, this time on lighter setting!
Our jigging trip begin in Tajung Tuan, hoping to find good size GT’s. Today is my first trip with the Poseidon Slowpitch Jigging Rod paired with Daiwa Saltiga Z20. A slightly light casting setting, Major Craft Volkey BLC 6-12lb paired with Daiwa Luvias 2506H. During the morning session, we manage to land 1 Barracuda and a Small Golden Snapper. It’s a good start but then I lost my Marine Bait Jig huhuhu after holding to it for 2 years haha. Apek has been posting huge GT’s caught in Tanjung Tuan and it has been the largest I’ve seen in years in Port Dickson.
Soon we head up to Vikram and chasing Queenfish and hopefully we can land some Mackerel as well just like last year haha.

Apex with his trophy GT’s in Port Dickson! 9KG!

POWERED BY!!

In Vikram it was Queenie party was lesser than usual its just that they don’t really hit our jigs and lures easily. There aren’t any Mackerel as well suggest that maybe the bite rate has drop dramatically over 1 year. Is it caused by over fishing or destruction of habitat? Well I let you guys decide on this one. We ended the day around 4PM and felt bad that AG was not able to land any fish today but there is always next time :).
Over the past 2 years, I’ve seen an improvement for the Teluk Kemang fisherman community. Last time the condition of the jetty and the community was not at its best due to Port Dickson is not known as a fishing spot among anglers in Malaysia. Now they have prepared a better facilities and service, irregardless of who is the skipper. They all focused in giving the best service to their clients. Now I believe it is time to spread the words of sustainable fishing to ensure Teluk Kemang as one the best fishing spot on the west coast for years to come. Thank you for reading and I thank you for all you support!
