Queenfish @ Talang by Izzudin |
After 4 days fishing in Royal Belum, I missed some good saltwater action ahead of Rompin and Jarak Island fishing trip scheduled in October. As usual, setup with Captain Apek and called all my fishing kaki to set a light jigging trip in Port Dickson. This trip is joined by Izzudin, Andrew, Badrul, Jown and his team. We depart from Teluk Kemang around 9.00am and head to our usual location.

Clear blue sky but the water is a bit choppy |

Team 2, Badrul & Jown |
As usual, we can see Queenie frenzy once we reached Vikram. There are 3 boats on the same location and this surely will be a small competition who would land the most fish. We started slow with no catches until late in the first half. Not a single fish is chasing our jigs during the morning. Andrew noticed that they are chasing large bait fish and one Barred Mack swim pass our boat chasing its meal. Then Din manage to land one on jig and another one strike by Andrew.

Decent size Queenie in PD, catch and released safely |

Din’s turn! |

His second Queenie |
As time goes by, we are having hard times luring Queenie on jigs. They are to busy chasing small fish and they are not eager to hit presented vertically and horizontally. It was fun when we heard Boat 2 cheering when they land 3 Queenie. It makes us want to work harder and try different method. During first half of the day, I only had one strike but was not able to set the hook properly.

Din manage to land 4 and lost 2, all are safely released back to the sea |

New in jigging and first timer in PD! Great Catch! |

Jown with his good size Queenie |
Mid second half of the day, things get quite for good. No more top water activity only small group of Queenie still chasing bait fish. It is time to change strategy, I switched from small jigs to Heddon Spook SW. After few cast, finally manage to entice one lucky Queenie. Although it was fouled hook, what the hack, gonna enjoy it anyway! Andrew manage to set his GoPro Hero for an underwater footage!

Continue on jigging! |

Andrew worked that day, too bad not as frenzy as last time. |
We head to Teluk Kemang for our final jigging spot. Still no fish are willing to take a bite. We ended the day with a total catch of 8 Queenie and boat 2 with 3 Queenie. Thank you for reading this blog and stay tuned for more action from Fishyology.com
