Hampala Barb (Sebarau), inhabits the rapids |
DAY III
After a promising day II, landed lots of Baung and manage to land one large Sebarau. We head into day III hoping for a better report as water conditions improves further. Although it is still quite murky, it was way better than day II. We begin our casting session in the morning after having only light breakfast. We begin to cast upstream and then suddenly I heard a loud explosion on the water. Azmi’s spoon was hit by a Sebarau. It strikes the spoon viciously and it was hit like 4-5 feet away from him. I could see the water explode and straight away assist Azmi. It took some time to land the fish as it is very powerful, leveraging on the strong current making it even harder to fight with light tackle. Finally the fish gave up and we land the first Sebarau of the day.

Another pose with his new trophy 😀 |

His first Sebarau on lures! Great job azmi! |
Feeling motivated with Azmi’s Sebarau, we continue our journey in searching for our own trophy. Not long after that, it was Badrul’s turn to have his own fight with the Sebarau. I was quite far from the chain of anglers, thus I was not able to portray how he landed the fish. I believe it was one hell of a fight, experiencing the same thing like Azmi’s first catch. Even it is small in size, it was very powerful.

Nice trophy catch! |

Certainly will put a smile on an Anglers face 😀 |

Nuar with his trophy! |
Once we reach the last frontier or Jeram 3, it was already lunch hour. We decided not to return to base and continue to cast. We recharge our energy by relaxing and enjoying the spectacular view of Malaysian wilderness. Overall today was a great experience that surely will last for many years to come. As water conditions improves further, occasionally we can see Sebarau and Kelah starts to rise from the depth. We can see lots of them, just they are not enticed with our lures and spoons.

Resting hehe |

The water is becoming greener and clearer |

Waiting for the opportune moment |
During our afternoon session, we continue to cast towards our base. Finally I manage to land my first Sebarau. It was a juvenile Sebarau. Halfway through the rocky path, We were to tired to continue, after taking a bath, we straight head back to camp and eat.. So hungry.. hhehe.
