Ever Green Combat Crank |
Our second outing for the day is located in Rawang, a fishing center called Exotic Fishing Pond. It is located beside the Jurassic Fishing Pond which I have done my review last year. Our second outing of the day is due to our poor outing in the morning at Bukit Cerakah, Shah Alam. Thus, we decide to head to Rawang, wanting some serious hard hitting action.
Entrance fee is RM100 and we need to deposit RM50 with a fishing duration of 3 hours. In exotic, you can use any technique that suits individual angler. Casting lures that is equipped with single hook is probably the best choice in capturing Asian Redtail Catfish and Amazonian Catfish. Baiting with fish feed is an all rounder for other species like Sultan Fish @ Jelawat and Mekong Catfish. Live bait can also be used in hunting Asian Redtail Catfish, Amazonian Catfish, Alligator Gar and Arapaima. From all the list of species available in this paid pond, surely a suitable casting set is needed to land all this aggressive species.

Let us begin! |
In this outing, I have selected two setting, medium setting using Major Craft Volkey BLC 6-12lb and probably my lightest setting Daiko Blue Spear ULS76 with a rating of 2-5lb. Both of them paired with Daiwa Ballistic 3000 and Daiwa Luvias 2508H. Earlier first hour, I have already manage to hook 3 times but unable to land the fish as it is not properly hooked or probably fouled hook. Asrazi manage to land the first species using Ever Green Combat Crank.

Nice size Asian Redtail Catfish, brought down using Ever Green Tactics Hard Hooter |
Badrul later on the second hour manage to hook two more species, an Alligator Gar and Asian Redtail Catfish. Once again, I didn’t manage to properly set in the hook as something hit my Combat Crank Hard. We can see there is a lot of Sultan Fish, but they are not interested in chasing our lures.

Rapala Fire Tiger Flat Rap manage to entice this illusive Alligator Gar |
Towards the end, I gave up on my crank bait and switch to Ima BTA 80 on the light setting. Finally manage to fouled hook a Rohu and it really tested my Daiko ULS. This time, I carefully set in the hook without putting to much pressure on the rod and manage to land my first Rohu of the year! Although not the conventional way of landing this species haha but surely worth the fight. I will upload the video on youtube and share it here in Fishyology! After three hours we called it a day and head back to Kajang. Special thanks to all team members Asrazi, Badrul & Azfar!
