FISHING VALLEY, SEMENYIH – 14 OCT 2012
Today’s trip to the Fishing Valley, Semenyih was to catchup with old long lost buddy Asrazi Shamsinar (Bobby). I think it has been few years since we went fishing together. So today I’m gonna try to polish some of his long lost skills and technique. Later today, two of my friends will join me, Hafiz Azmi (Apis) & Azmi Tajudin (Amie).
My gear selection for today – Ryobi Arctica 3000 with 8lb Spiderwire Camo Braid and Major Craft Big Lake Custom Rod 6-12lb rating. For my bait, I will be using GreenBait P3 (Red).

Since today is Sunday, you can expect a lot of avid anglers fishing in Pond 3 (Catch & Release). The first fish we caught today was a Plecostomus or locally called Ikan Bandaraya by Bobby. The purpose of this fish is to clean the pond from algae. After adjusting our position further to the center. Finally, my turn to test the new Major Craft BLC. It was a common carp that takes the bait.
Then, the unexpected happened. A giant mekong catfish takes the bait and it was like stopping a bus due to its huge mass and powerful swim. Since I the reel was on 8lb test line, I have to carefully maneuver the fish at a safe landing area. Soon people starts to flock the area as they want to see what’s on the other end of the line. After probably 10 minutes battle, finally I’ve landed my biggest FW catch. It was truly a Giant Mekong Cat Fish. Weighing more than 20kg, its even bigger than the landing net. It was such an amazing experience to land such a magnificent fish. Soon Azmi Tajudin & Asrazi again landed a Common Carp.
